When you donate your car, Michigan men, women and children struggling with homelessness receive life-changing care.
For over 116 years Volunteers of America has worked to provide a lifeline to the nations homeless – with Volunteers of America Michigan on the leading edge of homeless care.
Volunteers of America Michigan invests countless hours and millions of dollars into both preventing homelessness and ending it for homeless people and their families. When you donate your car, Michigan people struggling with homelessness receive care on the street and through our many facilities. When Volunteers of America Michigan engages homeless veterans, young people and families with children, we give them a hand for as long as it takes to return to self-sufficiency. Your car and truck donations provide homeless assistance that ranges from subsidized housing to an offer of permanent supportive housing so that homeless people with disabilities can grow into stable and productive members of the Michigan community.
Donate your car, Michigan, and help Volunteers of America transform the lives of the homeless with these vital services:
Overnight Emergency Shelters:
With just one serious turn of events, families and children can find themselves living on the street. Our homeless shelters are open 365 days a year, with a 50 bed overnight emergency shelter for men and a 14 bed overnight emergency shelter for women and children. Both shelters are completely full nearly every night of the year.
Volunteers of America operates extensive services for Michigan’s homeless veterans, including Veterans Community Housing, the Veterans Dormitory Program and the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. When you donate your car, Michigan veterans receive case management, counseling for individuals and groups, referrals for substance abuse treatment, job training and more.
New Hope Day Center:
The New Hope Day Center is a weekday homeless service center where the work of recovery takes place. Partially funded through vehicle donations, the NHDC offers to support to homeless families and individuals. The New Hope Day Center gives Michigan’s homeless vital access to crucial services. Plus, when our shelters are full to capacity (as they are almost every night) we also use the Day Center to provide emergency shelter.
Hotel Emergency Shelter Program:
When families or people with disabilities are evicted or homeless, out Hotel Emergency Shelter Program comes into play. This important program provides emergency shelter for homeless families in local hotels or motels. When the emergency shelter is full, the Hotel Emergency Shelter Program also provides food if needed, as well as case management for families or people with disabilities.
